mangia on your device — already today in the browser.
mangia runs instantly in your browser — like an app, without a download. On your phone or tablet you can add it to the home screen with two taps. Native Android and iOS apps will follow.
Three ways to use mangia
Web & desktop — ready to go right away
Open mangia in any modern browser on Mac, Windows, Linux or Chromebook. Nothing to install, no updates to maintain — you always have the latest version. If you want, you get a real desktop app via PWA installation (instructions below).
Android — coming soon to the Play Store
The native Android app is in preparation. Until then: open mangia in the Chrome browser on your Android device and tap «Add to home screen». That gives you the same app feel — its own icon, full screen, works offline too.
iOS — in progress
The iPhone and iPad app will follow after Android. In the meantime, mangia works excellently in Safari on iOS — the instructions further down show how to install it as a web app on your home screen.
App feel without an app store: install the PWA
A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a website that behaves like an app: its own icon on the home screen, its own window without a browser bar, works offline too. Here's how to install mangia as a PWA — no app store needed.
Chrome on desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux, Chromebook)
- Open mangia in Chrome
- Click the install icon on the right in the address bar (a monitor with an arrow)
- Confirm with «Install»
- mangia now opens as its own app — you'll find it in your apps folder or Start menu
Microsoft Edge on desktop
- Open mangia in Edge
- Click the three-dot menu at the top right
- Choose «Apps → Install this site as an app»
- Confirm with «Install»
Safari on Mac
- Open mangia in Safari
- Click «File → Add to Dock» (from macOS Sonoma 14 onwards)
- Confirm with «Add»
- mangia now sits in the Dock and opens in its own window
Safari on iPhone & iPad
- Open mangia in Safari (not in Chrome — on iOS, PWA installation only works in Safari)
- Tap the share icon at the bottom (a square with an arrow)
- Scroll down and choose «Add to Home Screen»
- Confirm at the top right with «Add» — mangia now sits as an icon on your home screen
Common questions
Why isn't there an app in the Play Store or App Store yet?
We're building mangia as a web app, because that's faster and you can use it immediately on any device and any operating system. The native wrappers for Android and iOS are in preparation, as soon as the core features are stable. The advantage for you: you can start cooking today, without waiting for a store approval.
Do I lose data if I switch later from the PWA to the native app?
No. Your recipes, plans and lists are in your mangia account in the cloud — not in the app. You log into the new app, and everything is there.
Does mangia work offline too?
Yes, if you've installed it as a PWA. On first opening, mangia loads your recipes and makes them available offline — you can cook even if the kitchen Wi-Fi is weak. Changes are synced as soon as you're back online.
Does the app in the app store cost anything?
No. mangia itself is free — web app, Android and iOS. Optional Pro features (Balance, Browse, taste profile per child) are in the Pro subscription. mangia stays ad-free in every variant.
